New: Weighing platforms for monitoring scaffolding constructions

BIS Industrial Services has developed weighing platforms with IT link, a unique method for constant monitoring of column loads of large scaffolding.

The completely automated weighing system generates an alarm if the values are exceeded. The weighing platforms have already been successfully adapted for various power plants during maintenance stops.

It is important to constantly have a clear picture of the forces acting on a scaffold when working in a boiler. Together with the builder of the boiler, the business office of BIS determines the critical points of the scaffold construction with the greatest forces. The weighing platforms were placed under the foot spindles of the scaffolds and at varying heights along the walls.

The weighing platforms are equipped with a sensor which indicates the standard loads of the scaffolding construction. The sensors are connected to a central computer which registers every change separately. The presence of people, installations and material can disturb the balance of the scaffolding construction during activities and may possibly cause a critical load.

The alarm system is triggered if the values are exceeded. At the same time, the computer system automatically sends an SMS report and indicates which measuring point falls in the critical load. Of course, the load at the moment of alarming is still such that there is no direct danger.

The adaptation of the system need not be limited to scaffolding in boilers. Other possibilities are hanging scaffolds on for example pipe bridges, support scaffolding for cement floors and column scaffolding.
